Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE:NFX) made the following comments on the Hogshooter Wash during the company’s third quarter of 2012 earnings conference call. The company’s first well into this play produced at an initial rate of 5,045 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day
“Our first well was a barn burner with an initial gross production of more than 5,000 barrels equivalent per day. This well has averaged about 4,200 BOE a day over the first 30 days. Our working interest in this well is about 100%. We have a rig dedicated to the play now and we are drilling our second well currently…the Hogshooter well cost us a little over $8 million.”
“The composition of that 4,200 BOE per day was about 2,650 barrels of oil, 780 barrels of natural gas liquids and about 3.9 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. And that's a 30-day average. So that's, what, 75% oil, 90% liquids or so.”
