Apache Corporation (APA) released an operational update on its development activities during the third quarter of 2010, and disclosed additional information on the Granite Wash of the Anadarko Basin. The company has a total of 200,000 gross acres in the play.
Apache Corporation reported the completion of the two horizontal wells drilled to the Hogshooter segment of the Granite Wash. Both wells are located in Beckham County, Oklahoma.
The Edler #1-5 well had an initial production rate of 2,050 barrels of oil and 3.7 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The Edler #1-5 well was drilled to a vertical depth of 11,360 feet and completed with a 4,360 foot horizontal lateral and an eight stage hydraulic fracturing operation.
The Thetford #4-23 well had an initial production rate of 2,100 barrels of oil and 3.2 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The Thetford #4-23 well was drilled to a vertical depth of 10,900 feet and completed with a 4,280 foot horizontal lateral and a nine stage hydraulic fracturing operation.
Apache Corporation reported that after being on production for nearly sixty days, the two Hogshooter wells are averaging production of 700 barrels of oil and 3.5 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. The company is operating nine horizontal wells in the Granite Wash play and plans to spud one more Hogshooter well before the end of the year. In 2011, Apache Corporation will add one more rig and will drill 40 horizontal Granite Wash wells.
